The bottom reading - the Diastolic reading - is the pressure in your blood vessels when your heart is not doing anything. if you use the analogy of an inner tube on a bicycle wheel, too hard a pressure makes the tyre more likely to burst if subjected to damage, whereas a tyre at the right pressure can flex more and maybe avoid or absorb damage.
Main causes of high diastolic pressures are too much salt, which increases the amount of fluid you retain, narrowing of the vessels due to disease, (deposits on the lining, such as fatty sticky stuff from a bad diet) or stricture (narrowing due to other causes).

Arginine supplementation has been shown to be safer than statin drugs in the regulation and management of high blood pressure. Stress is not always a factor the state of your arteries plays a much greater part, causes vary but diet (over processed modern foods), mobility and lifestyle are the usual culprits. It can be due to numerous things. I assume your doctor gave you medication to lower this level and has run stress tests etc.
