I guess if we can do that world wide, we can save millions of tons of fuel every year.

Yes, and it is done around the world. Oil is big business here so it will probably be a suppressed form of energy like many other natural resources.

Ah yes, dried poo, or dung, is used throughout the developing world as a fuel source. Who would have thought that they'd be soooo advanced!

You may be surprised to learn that our sewerage treatment facilities use the poo you poo today! Yes, its highly useful. It goes through huge centrifuges where the water is squeezed out. Then it goes through an oven for drying. The final sterile product is used as an industrial fertilizer.

I believe that most dung that is used for fuel in wood and resource poor regions are from herbevours. The plant matter in the undigested fecal matter when dry is used as the combustable material. Maybe it has to do with the digestive processes of animals such as cattle/oxen, horses, goats and sheep which are the more common forms of solid fuels used in many countries. Thanks for putting that thought in my head, now I need to research it further. Try this web site for more info:http://www.smm.org/buzz/blog/fecal_matters_energy_wise_according_to_this_article

to be honest, I truly don't know, but am sure someone is or has probably working on it as we speak. Considering the amount of human waste we create - if it were economically feasibly our fuel problems would be over forever.
...and (if you'll pardon the pun) should they succeed they will be sitting on a gold mine... not to mention that it would certianly knock the backside out of the oil market. lol

Sounds like a terrible idea. Not only would filtration methods all over the world have to be rebuilt, but it would pollute like all hell and the world would smell like ****.
