Dear Dani. STOP JUST ONE MINUTE! Read this slowly. No cure for it BUTTTTTTTTT, if your heart throb is TYPE 2 then it actually can be a great start to a long life. What I mean is that there is a HUGE difference between type 1 &2. Type 1 can't produce enough insulin any day of the week to move the foods into the cells right. A type 2 CAN. The life long issue for a type 2 centers around education for self and most close to self people. I am a type 2 and I am 65 and doing great. I just have to balance my physical activity with calorie intake. It gets more complex depending on just how and what a specific type 2 eats as well. But, generally speaking, if a type 2 takes the diagnosis as a good challenge then he or she will minimize the percent of body fat. That is the key. The more the fat the more resistant a type 2 person's insulin is resistent to locking onto cells to help the food stuff to get inside. I can tell when I have been a bad boy and find out by checking my blood sugar.I want to be healthy so being a type 2 forces me to not pig out and be a couch potato.

The answer is no, a person become a diabetic when their pancreas doesn't produce enough or completely stops making insulin, which regulates the sugars and carbohydrates we eat.

Your crush can exercise and watch his diet. This will help him keep his blood glucose in a normal range, but once a diabetic, always a diabetic until someone comes up with a cure. Hopefully soon, because my husband and I are both type 2 diabetics.

In the not too distant future you may see a cure with the use of stem cells or with transplanted cells from the Islets of Langerhans of a healthy person to maybe the intestine of a diabetic. The cures are being worked on and a cure will happen.

Unfortunately, there is NO curre for diabetes. It CAN be CONTROLLED through diet, medication or both. Some people can control their diabetes with diet alone, some require the medication along with that diet, and some of the medication is tablets. The more severe cases of diabetes require a strict diet with insulin injections.
Sorry my friend. NO CURE AS YET.

No one asked you if your crush has type 1 or type 2, as most posters have already said no there is no magical "cure", but this disease is controllable, by what most of what everyone else has said. Is your crush on any form of insulin. Did your crush just find out. I hope your crush has got a lot of advice from a qualified Dr. By the way low low sodium is important as well. But, yes your crush can live a normal life, but always follow your doctors orders. Research Diabetes on the web there is so much info out there, have your crush implement his or hers Dr. plus the info he or she learns on the web into his/her lifestyle.

No cure yet, still researching that. But with diet and exercise it can be controlled and he can live for a very long time. He has to take his disease seriously and do what is right for him. Who knows, there may be a cure in his lifetime.

there's no known cure for diabetes... but there are ways to control it.
tell ur crush to exercise a lot. watch the foods he,she eats, control his/her sugar intake... he should avoid eating anything that is sweet including fruits but he could eat 1/4 of an apple every meal
and, best of all, consult a doctor.
