Xanax ( Alprazolam), which is prescribed for anxiety, panic disorder, and anxiety caused by depression. initially, when taking Xanax , you may experience side effects but, usually diminishes within time ( 4-6 weeks). How often are you taking it?? What is the dosage amount?? Did you receive an information pamphlet from your pharmacy?? It is important that you avoid alcohol while taking this medicine and Grapefruit or grapefruit juice may interact with Xanax. Be aware that most medications have side effects, which the drug companies have to list, even if one side effects occurs in one out of a million people. Most common side effects :
1) drowsiness, dizziness, feeling irritable
2) amnesia or forgetfulness, trouble concentrating
3) sleep problems ( insomnia)
4) muscle weakness, lack of balance or coordination, slurred speech
5) blurred vision
6) nausea, vomiting, constipation, appetite or weight changes
7) dry or watery mouth, increased sweating
8) loss of interest in sex
Do not operate heavy machinery or anything that requires alertness until you know how your body responds to Xanax.
If you experience an increase in your symptoms ( the reason that it was prescribed for you) or they persist or worsen, lasting longer than 4-6 weeks, contact the Doc who prescribed it. I hope that this helps.
