It's full of cholesterol and clogs your arteries. Vegetables have always been promoted as good for you, well...that is if they are cleaned properly so that they don't contain farmers fertilizers and such. A vegetarian diet is good for your health, the animals and the environment. Animals suffer greatly in slaughterhouses with many of them being dismembered while alive. The environment suffers a great deal because so much water is wasted to process meat and the manure runoff from factory farms infects water ways. Think about old people. You need healthcare when you get older...I wonder why? Maybe it's because of all those years of eating meat and clogging your arteries! Meat has a lot of saturated fat in it. which humans have no dietary requirement for.

i try not to eat things that arent actually food :/

over consumption of saturated fat contributes to obesity and heart disease.

Meat also has far too much protein in it, it puts a constant heavy load on our kidneys and liver, which also uses up our water stores and chronically dehydrates us. this also leeches trace elements from the body and contributes to osteoporosis.

the digestive tract and the blood have optimal operating ph levels, the digestive system operates better in a highly alkaline environment and the blood operates best at a slightly alkaline level.

Meat is highly acidic. Chronic consumption of acidic food like meat slowly destroys the finger like lining of the small intestine.

it stops the digestive tract from being able to produce some nutrients all on its own, and it also hampers the digestive tracts ability to recycle nutrients.

There is much more that i still know off the top off my head... but yeah, ive got other stuff to do today :/

One thing i will say, is that there is nothing in meat that cannot be found in a plant based source. b12, calcium, protein, essential fatty acids, iron. the lot. its actually quite easy to find plant based alternatives for nutrients found in meat, and the plant based alternatives often come with a few different nutrients in them as well, at the very least often having essential fatty acids instead of the saturated fat meat does.

Good Luck : )

Animal flesh and animal products, such as milk, cheese, eggs, etc., are all unhealthy for you. Because of their naturally high cholesterol and fat content, it can lead to debilitating diseases, such as atherosclerosis, diabetes, cancer, etc. Modern farming makes them even worse with the hormones and chemicals they put into the animals and in their feed.

If you want detailed info, check out the following books:
"The Food Revolution" and "Diet For A New America" by John Robbins and "The China Study" by T. Colin Campbell. You'll be surprised and shocked to read of their findings on health and the deception the meat, dairy, and egg industries have been selling to us from the very day we were born.

Best wishes :)

Even the leanest meat has much more fat than plant foods. A vegetarian diet helps prevent heart disease and stroke, may help control diabetes better and is more economically viable as well.

Too much meat and certain types of it as they are found in stores are bad for health.
Yes, meat is a source of protein and iron, but you can get those from other foods as well.

Meat in general is not bad for you. Certain KINDS of meat are bad for you however. Also eating inappropriate amounts of meat is unhealthy.

Lean deli meats, esp chicken and turkey are the best. IMO, nothing beats a turkey sandwich on toasted bread with just enough Mayo to taste.

A vegetable diet has no real benefit other than avoiding the negative effects of eating meat at all (too much saturated fat, salt, or cholesterol). However, this is not a problem if you eat lean cuts and generally avoid heaping portions of things like steak (not to say I don't like steak but it's much better if you only eat it once in a while).

If you want my opinion, unless you have conscientious or physical reasons (some sort of condition) for swearing off meat, don't do it. There is no better source of iron, protein, and general nourishment. If you do in fact decide to go vegan, be warned that you need to be VERY knowledgeable about which things provide which nutrients. It is possible but you really have to be well informed. I would keep eating meat but eat the right kinds and save the steak for special occasions.

Meat stays in your body for 24 hours before dissolving and breaking up to form waste. The thought of that makes me feel sick. As a vegetarian it is vital to suppliment your diet with any nutrients you miss by a meatless diet.

meat is supper bad for you! causes colon cancer. leads to heart disease and heart attacks! plus enough of it will make you fat! besides its just disgusting to think of eating dead corps.. eww.. PLUS an average life of a cow is 25 years. cows raised for food (bulls if you will) spend their entire life cooped up in small areas. not a happy life. plus they inject them with hormones. they hang them upside down and slit their throats while they still are alive. they feel pain you know. and emotion. dairy cows are just as bad. they inject hormones into their utters. stick them on those milk sucker things for their whole life (which dairy cows only live 2 years) as soon as they have a baby, it is taken away from them. if its a male calf, they send it off for veal. (veal is a baby male calf) very sad. but enough of that. basically humans don't need meat to survive. eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, tofu, rice, beans, pasta, nuts, seeds is so much more healthy for you. you have so much more energy. you feel better about yourself and you lose weight! also most importantly, you are saving so many animals each day by not eating them!

It's mainly red meat. But you can substitute the protein with things like:
* Milk
* Soy Milk
* Eggs
* Cheese
* Yogurt
* Peanut Butter
* Lean Meats, Fish, and Poultry
* Beans, Tofu, Lentils, and other Legumes
* Grains, including bread and pasta
* Nuts and Seeds
