Depends on how well they take care of themselves. Besides the fibromyalgia, I haven't been sick in years.

Sort of.
Diabetics may or may not get sick more often. Diabetes does have a tendency to make people more susceptible to infections. However, I think it's more of the fact that diabetes often increases the recovery time. Also, a diabetic may take longer to recuperate from injuries, sugery and so on.
Also, when a diabetic has an infection, it's not uncommon for tblood sugar levels to rise, leaving said diabetic not only fighting off an infection, but also having to deal with possible DKA, dehydation and other electrolyte imbalances. Consider it a double whammy.
I only get sick a few times a year...a cold here, a stomach virus there. However, I know when I'm getting sick and I go into my "sick day" plan to reduce complications and ending up in the hospital (it's happened a few times).

It's possible. Especially when your blood sugar is out of proper range. When you are getting enough exercise and eating very well, you won't be sick as often. You may have to work very hard to get to that place, but you can do it. Have your Certified Diabetes Educator and your doctor help you with this. Read lots on nutrition and health food.
Diabetics are more susceptible to infection, so care needs to be taken with your health. Has anyone told you not to go outside without closed-toe shoes? Even a tiny cut can lead to serious infections and amputations. Remember to wash your hands frequently, and use hand sterilizer lotion when you are out.

Only if they are not proactive in their nutrition. Diabetics live a normal number of years if they seriously eat the correct food. Some who eat what they are supposed to often get off their meds, reduce their insulin, if they are type1, exercise daily and some actually have no more symptoms. The body DOES heal itself.
I am type 2 and rarely get sick. It's all about your immune system. Most diseases are auto immune disorders like diabetes.

When we have diabetes, we run a higher risk of becoming sick when others will just easily fight off an infection.
Even though some people will say they are completely healthy ,you still need to work at not catching any illnesses.
Make sure to have a flu vaccine and a pneumonia vaccine .
Do not eat raw meats or unpasteurized foods and drinks.Keep hydrated and at first sign of illness, see your doctor.

Diabetics are at higher risk for infections, circulation problems, and many other problems, especially if their blood sugars are not in good control. Diabetics who manage their blood sugar well can keep a lot of these problems at bay.

Well I've heard it said differently. Beer, Whiskey, kind of risky; Whiskey, Beer, have no fear. But when I do have a drink, I always drink beer before any kind of liquor. I usually just stick with beer anyway, unless we're making frozen drinks that is!!!! Take care and have a great evening!
