Why is that I read lots of other peoples responses and they say things like, "You can't catch AIDS this way.." or "You get AIDS from unprotected sex..."? It really bothers me to see how many people are uniformed. You DON'T get AIDS from someone else, you get HIV. Only blood tests can tell if someone has AIDS- cd4 cells fall below 200 and then a person is medically diagnosed with AIDS. It's also important to know that AIDS is NOT a virus; It is a term used to describe certain illnesses connected with HIV- go read up on it people (http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/topics/basic/index.htm).

That's a very loose question, as some people can live for many many years with HIV and some live shorter. I think it depends on the persons body, whether or not they take the right meds, if they drink, smoke, do drugs, eat right, get the right sleep etc. There ar people that are positive and have been so for 20+ years. We have come a long way with this epidemic! I want to know why we have these PEP programs for someone exposed to HIV to take within so many hours, but we don't have a cure. Why is that? If scientists can crack the DNA of HIV, we can defintely attack it head on. Figure out what the blueprint is and ya.
