I have a gay friend who has had a lot of STDs. I just found out about this even though he and I have been friends for a long time. Is it safe to be in close distance with him, since we usually study together. Also, is it okay to be around someone with HIV. is it contagious and will i get it?

It's perfectly fine to be around him and have every day casual contact. Shaking hands or hugging someone with HIV/AIDS will NOT spread the virus.
As long as you aren't having sex with him you should be perfectly fine!

STD's including HIV are not contagious in the sense of casual contact. Being around someone will not put you at risk. Sex is the primary mode of transmission. It is ok to study with him. As a friend, please inform him at some point that safe sex is the best sex.

HIV is spread through bodily fluids and infected needles. Just sitting next to him will not be a problem. You have a very unlikely chance to catch anything.

lol gay or staright or whatever anyone with std's do you really wanna be hugging people like that or being that close... i think it puts me in a lower class if i hung out with people who had many stds because you gotta be dumb to have unprotected sex these days

u can if ur not carefull, and educated on hiv. make sure u dont use the same toothbrush or kiss him. yeh, even kissing. good luck

u cant get an std from being around someone lol STD- SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED disease...u have to have sex to get it so if ur not having sex with him u have nothing to worry about.
