Asthma is a disease that when a person comes into contact with a particle that triggers that person's asthma, e.g. dust or pollen, the muscle around the walls of the respiratory tract tightens so that the airway becomes narrower. The lining of the airways becomes inflamed and starts to swell and mucus is produced. All these cause the airways to become narrower and irritated, leading to an asthma attack. As the airways become narrower, respiration becomes severely difficult, and thus affects a person in whatever s/he is doing.

When one suffers from asthma, the muscles around the tracts are usually very much tighten and may not relax while they are sleeping, thus cause breathing problems while sleeping. That person will not be able to breathe properly.

The answer is obvious. If you have an asthma attack in your sleep, it will not only cause sleeping problems, but it could also cause severe breathing problems as well. If you have asthma or know of someone who does, only a doctor can assess the condition and prescribe medications for it to help prevent attacks whether asleep or awake.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

My asthma at times can cause me to wake up several times in the night because I feel like I can't get enough air. It feels like the room is way to stuffy and I start to cough so hard sometimes I gag and vomit. Even though my doc has me on a long lasting medication and a quick acting med sometimes I wake needing another puff just to calm my chest. when you wake several times a night your whole day is shot.

When you don't have enough oxygen, it slows everything down,it makes you very sleepy. You are building up gases in your lungs.
