Make a vat of chili (ahead of time and freeze). Day before the party, put the chili in the fridge to defrost; go out and buy some shredded cheddar, onions, sour cream, and saltine crackers, or better yet, sour dough rolls. Chop the onions and put all the fixin's in bowls on the day of the party. Start heating up the chili just before the guests arive...leave it simmer on the stove until ready to eat. Everyone helps themselves and you don't have to do anything while you're guests are there.

Spaghetti & meat sauce or meat loaf

Simple salad
Mixed salad greens, toasted pecans, cran-raisins/Balsamic vinegarette dressing, (toss all together just before serving unless allergies--then have little nut/cran-raisin cups at each salad)

Yeast bread/rolls

Brownies/Pound Cake/ice cream or make ahead/freeze a sundae or shortcake,Punch bowl cake.

Fruit compote or fruit basket (dairy free)

Oops--vegetarians any one? Add Lima Beans or Veg Baked Beans and a Baked Potato/sweet Potato to Meat Loaf Menu

Food allergies? Ask them to make suggestions as to what they can eat? Diabetic...Use diabetic angel food cake, sugar free cool whip,
diet strawberry jello cubes (extra gelatin)/ strawberries in punch bowl cake
Can do diet jello/make with diet soda, Cool whip in small wine glass for dessert. Elegant, pretty, different. Place on pretty doily at table.
Could even make in small punch glasses and serve with creme puffs or wedding cookies or donut holes.

Place all on buffet server and enjoy.

How about a quiche? You can make that ahead of time and serve it warm. Also, what about some muffins for people to have with tea and coffee?
