Ok I was recently diagnosed with HPV, (genital warts), which I am confused on because its been about 5 years since my last sexual encounter. I was told that 80% of sexually active people have them by the time they are 50. I'm in my early 30s, male, and have had a few sex partners(although I can't say the same for them-neither one had a clue what it meant to be faithful), this is the first time anything like this has ever happened to me.
I am being treated with Aldara to get rid of the warts but I've also read that they do come back, and that there is no cure for the HPV virus. Does this mean I will be contagious for the rest of my life?

Also is it possible to have anal warts? I'm not gay and have never had any type of anal sex. I do have about 15 or so "bumps" there though, and they are very recent, how would i know if they weren't hemorrhoids?

Genital warts can take a LONG time to show up once a person has been infected with HPV. I have personally had HPV for 6+ years and I didn't develop genital warts from it till about a year and 1/2 ago. It took me about 5 years to develop genital warts from my HPV after I was diagnosed with it!

Also, it doesn't matter if you have had sex with 2 people or 200. If someone is having sex, there is always going to be a chance of contracting a STD, especially STDs that are spread by DIRECT skin to skin contact. Condoms HELP prevent spreading STDs, but they are not 100% effective. Condoms only cover a man's penis - not the entire genital area. So, just the rubbing back and forth of the genital skin during foreplay or sex is enough to spread HPV (and also genital herpes).

I used Aldara for genital warts also. My fiance has used it too and it worked great for both of us. Neither one of us has had them come back (luckily). But, I've read as much as 30 - 50% of people who have treated their genital warts, end up having them come back and have to treat them again.

There is NO "cure" for HPV though because it is a virus. However, most women are able to get rid of the virus on their own. Their bodies can basically "fight it off" and get rid of it. Since, unfortunately, there is no test to detect HPV in men, it's basically impossible for them to know if they have been able to get rid of the virus.

When most people think of a "cure" they think of getting rid of something with drugs, therapy, natural remedies, etc. So, since there are no drugs or therapy to actually rid the virus from the body then there is technically no "cure".

Since HPV is a virus though, and there are no cures for viruses, some people will have the virus their entire life and are unable to get rid of it. And, just because a person might have gotten rid of the virus doesn't mean they can't contract it again in the future. They can always contract the virus again if they have sex with someone who has it or they come in DIRECT skin to skin contact with the infected area of someone who has it.

Good luck to you and take care!

I got clinically diagnosed with genital herpes (type 2) about 5 years back, while I was still in college and had a mindless one-night stand. I realize a lot of girls will declare this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for my entire life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date guys again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl who has sores around her you-know-what? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/yluoa everything improved.

Not only was I able to clear away all traces of the hsv from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just a week ago, in front of everybody in a packed restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!! This method provided the opportunity to be happy and experience true love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the whole World.
