You mean jello, right? Not yogurt.

Not all yogurt contains gelatin.

Much of it does, and there is no ethical dilemma here.

Vegetarians would not eat yogurt with gelatine in it.

There are vegetarian yogurts.

life can be very simple.

To be honest, this forum is going to get very boring if you are going to go through every food where there are vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions. Why did you pick on yogurt ? Veggies have known its got geletin in it since 1847, have you just found out.

edit: and your additional comments don't make things any clearer. Where is the moral dilemma ? Geletine is from dead cows and pigs. You might as well ask "would a vegetarian eat a pie with beef in it, is't that an ethical dilemma ?" - it just doesn't make sense

For the person who said kosher gelatin, I emailed Danon about one of their products that contained kosher gelatin, this was their response=
"Thank you for contacting the Dannon Company concerning Gelatin. The gelatin used in our products provides the proper consistency and texture for the blended style yogurts. It is certified K Kosher because it is derived from the pure, inedible collagen of beef hide. If you cannot eat the animal gelatin, I would suggest that you would try one of our traditional yogurts: Plain or Lowfat Flavored, which do not contain any gelatin."
As a vegetarian I do not eat yogurt with gelatin or eat anything with carmine (dead beetles)

Yogurt has too weird of a mouth feel whether it is okay(meaning minus the gelatin) or not. I don't like it anyways...so I never had to give it up....I would if I did like it though.

I think it's more of an ethical dilemma...due to the fact that all vegetarains are veggie for the animals. And most of the vegetarians that are veggie for other reasons (health reasons....) don't really give a crap about the animals...and would eat them if their health or whatever reason would permit.

I just stopped eating yogurt with gelatin in it. It's not a moral thing at all I just find gelatin to be totally disgusting. The way it's made is just gross. Look it up on wikipedia...it's nasty!

Vegetarians do not eat gelatin, so they choose yogurts made without it. No dilemma.

I don't eat yogurt with gelatin. I only eat gelatin-free yogurt. Jello and certain types of candy have gelatin, too.

No, I don't eat yogurt with animal gelatin added and it's not a dilemma at all. I don't want to eat it, easy!

I don't eat yogurt that has gelatin in it.

By the way, kosher gelatin is made from fish bones.

I don't eat yoplait yogurt because it has gelatin. I always read the label, i dont eat it even if it says kosher gelatin because that just beans blessed by a preist. it probably just comes from cows instead of pigs.

I just try to avoid anything that has gelatin in it. Label reading solves it all. So many foods like this have alternatives to the items that have gelatin, that it doesn't matter much.
