Why are all Chinese restaurants closed on Tuesdays? They all seem to be where I live

Mondays and Tuesdays are usually the quietest nights in a take away. The reason that most of them close on the same night is for socialising reasons, they are a close knit community and tend to meet up in places. This wouldnt happen if they all closed on different days.

I think k2's theory is the closest. I've never heard of Tuesdays being a cleaning day for Chinese people. Anyway, in Nottingham the Chinese takeaway are open all week. Where I live now, a country with a big Chinese community, shops and restaurants are open all week through.
By the way, the dog meat thing. Only a tiny minority of Chinese still consume dog meat. And it's only as cruel as eating commercially reared chicken / beef.

They have to take one day off a week..
Friday - Saturday nights they have to open as they're the busiest nights of the week.
Sunday nights are business nights for them for people who'd over done Saturday nights and didn't manage to get shopping done over the whole of Sunday so would have to settle for a Chinese takeaway.
Monday nights are when most people have had a bad day at work and can't be arsed to cook dinner.
So that leaves Tuesday nights. Coincidentally, Tuesdays are when all the chippies get their fresh fish, so fish & chips are always best on Tuesday nights. Why compete?

My local Chinese is closed on a Tuesday too, don't know why

I don't know why they close on Tuesday though were i am some are closed Tuesday and some are open 7 days

I know! I'm from Fife, Scotland and it's the same here. Who the hell thinks it's funny to say it's dog catching night? Although my sister did get a bit of what looked suspiciously like black fur in her curry once.
Noooooooooo! We can't say that about Chinese food or Chinese people coz they'll all close down then what would I do for a treat?

that's funny my local Chinese shuts on Tuesday too
but if we drive to town we can get one open.!!
