I ask this because I had to go through slight hell in order to be able to do it. The assistant manager made me get permission from corporate headquarters before he let me recycle the health spa’s discarded aluminum and plastic beverage containers.

He also told me he didn’t want me recycling because it doesn’t look good. Notice how he did not say he didn’t want me doing it because I’m not an employee of the health spa. Look good?? Over capacitated landfills, polluted beaches, and litter in the streets don’t look good either. I don’t understand why someone would have a problem with recycling.

Whores look wonderful but many of them are riddled with disease. So what’s his point?

Clint E, how come the gym's assistant manager didn't explain your point? Email me please...

Gingo, you make me mad. I wasn't venting my anger. I was asking about the situation cause I don't understand the way people react to the things I do.

10-T3 : Other members of the gym don't mind me doing it at all, in fact I sense a tinge of jealousy and admiration from many of them

I don't think you are weird - I pick up plastic and cans everywhere I go and I take it to the recycling place. I have even been at my friends houses (the ones who don't recycle) and I asked them if I could take theirs with me.
I don't think you were venting your anger either. I think you were just asking a question. I think the assist. Manager doesn't like it because it looks weird to have you going through their trash and maybe because they don't do it and should. Who cares what they think anyway - I hope you got permission to do it and I hope you keep it up. We need more people who care the way you do.
I thought your whore analogy was fine too.
:)

Yes Yes that analogy is awesome, and so totally true, though i would re word, can sometimes maybe look beautiful

First I am going to applaud you
CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP WHISTLE CLAP

You have taken the initiative to do whats right, and though you face skeptics (*** man) and adversitiy I hope you follow through with your recycling mission.

I think one of the reasons that it could "look bad" is if a customer confused the terms recycle with reuse, and then think that the spa's items are reused. this would be a health issue.

the assistant manager is just one person, and the world is filled with one person skeptics

And you are one person making a differece for the world

Dude I think the comparison to 'whores' is a bit out there, but think it is admirable that you are doing what you are doing.
Please either do it from a good place and dont feel bitter that you ran into a roadblock or two (which, hey!! you got round, didnt you??!) or if you feel too offended then dont do it!
And not all of them look that great, BTW

I think you were venting your anger by asking this Q. I hope youfeel better now. Please continue recycling, but better stil buy items that does not come in Plastic or alluminum containers. My grand children and I thank you. Now here is atreat for you for raising this issue:

Here's to the man who is wisest and best.
Here's to the man who with judgement is the best.
Here to the man who's as smart as can be--
I mean the man who agrees with me.

Well it's precisely because of morons like that that we're in the shape we're in in the first place.
