It is much too late to save the planet. It isn't just cars however. Societies all over the world have lived to excess with no thought about future generations. We reproduce like lab rats as well. It seems the biggest concern is making money with little or no regard for fresh air or clean drinking water. Don't forget about the importance of trees. Greedy land developers and their financiers treat them as an obstacle. Remember, without trees there is nothing to act as a natural barrier against the elements (Not to mention their Co2 filtering function). Also, re-cycling is seen as an extremist issue and has been dismissed in the eyes of too many. Finally, the endless creation of landfills is a danger. What is buried under ground eventually finds its way into the water table (i.e. soiled diapers, used batteries, rusted objects, etc.). Okay-I'm done (actually, my fingers are sore from all the typing). HAVE A NICE DAY!

Actually the main problem isn't cars, it's electricity production from fossil fuels, cars are only the second biggest cause of global warming (though admittedly they are going to be harder to deal with since we can't just switch them over to nuclear power like we can electricity generation). Before you start sprouting off on what you think needs to be done you might do well to actually find out what the problem is and what is contributing to it.
It isn't too late to save the planet, no matter what we know the planet will survive (the question is whether we will) and I suspect that we can stop the problem from getting worse and maybe even reverse it.
Going to Mars I don't think is a viable option until we've got some data on how well humans do in low gravity environments (we only have one g and zero g) although rotating space stations might do.
As for cars, getting rid of them is going to be very hard because they are the best transportation system we've got, walking is only viable for short distances and bicycles are death traps. Buses, Trams, Trains, Ferries, Airplanes, etc all run on a schedule which you have to fit in with (as opposed to a car which you can just get in and drive).
Car polling has practical difficulties of needing to pick the other passengers up (taking more time) and also being held to the schedule of the other passengers.
If you want to replace cars probably the only thing that can actually do the job is Personal Rapid Transit which unlike more conventional Transit systems has yet to fail (it hasn't quite gotten around to succeeding yet either but not being a failure is a big plus).
Or you could work to get cars that don't emit CO2 into the market.

Turning off the lighting fixtures for 9 mins is not going to store the planet, no. But severely, humans have to truthfully begin pondering for as soon as. Even if the planet isn't being destroyed via our waste, what approximately all of the humans with deceases precipitated via air pollution? Cancer? Asthma? Shouldn't we strive and and quit this, is some thing? I do not suppose any person goes to prove the lighting fixtures, however you're going to customarily be by myself in turning them on, too. Nothing goes to difference. It under no circumstances has. We desire a more potent motion than 9 mins of darkness to aid the sector's humans, and we have to begin taking this severely.

The main problem is not cars, deforestation, garbage, population etc. The problem is overwhelming complacency and apathy. There is a huge shortage in the will and desire to improve the environment. Until this problem is addressed, nothing will change.

Who said we are destroying the planet? A bunch of politicians who half the time can't be believed anyway. No wait, it is the same people and scientists who 30 years ago said the planet was going through global cooling. The causes were the same things that are causing(?) global warming today. So again, I ask the question: who said we are destroying the planet?

we need to find an alternative source of fuel and start using less energy. come to think of it - if it gets too late maybe we'll start having to transfer onto a space station or on another planet like Mars... that is pretty scary.

We need to raise the legal driving age to 18. Keep the teens off the road and will lower vehicular deaths, lower insurance rates, teen pregnancy and help the environment.
