Its easier to list the 'sushi' ingredients I DON'T like, which are:

Squid
Raw Shrimp
Roe

Everything else is golden. I love the stuff.

A thanks goes out to my sister and her boyfriend (now brother in law)

They introduced me to sushi when they took me out - that night was when I was apparently giving my approval (shrugs). I didn't think I'd like it, but I'll try anything at least once... glad in this case I did.

Funny thing though that sushi lovers know - there is great sushi and there is food poisoning. There isn't a whole lot of room in between. :)

Most of Japan likes sushi. I love sushi, although I have recently moved from Guam (it's an island, so the fish is only hours old) to central Illinois. Not much sushi here.

I like all the various forms of Sushi:

For the ignorant who think sushi is 'raw fish' see here

sushi: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sushi
sashimi: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sashimi

open or bowl - where the other stuff is just sprinkled over the top of the rice. (chirashi-zushi)

Rolled: Thick or thin; either in seaweed (nori) (some of which have the rice rolled outside and sprinkled with various things) or a thin omelette (silk) or the cone shaped hand rolls.

Gunkan-maki (lit. warship roll) with a lump of rice, wrapped round with seaweed, and a filling on top of various ingredients.

Pressed layers in a mould and cut up - makizushi

inarizushi: a small pouch of fried tofu containing various things - a common 'desert' type is just sweetened rice.

BTW, prawns, octopus, crab, etc are not served raw: they are always cooked. Only certain fish are used uncooked' for 'sashimi'.

Note: 'Sashimi grade' fish is caught by individual handline, and as soon as the fish is landed, its brain is pierced with a sharp knife, killing it instantly. Because the flesh contains no lactic acid from the fish dying slowly, it will keep fresh on ice for about 10 days without turning white, or otherwise degrading.

You can't get fresher! Also only Ocean fish (and other seafood) is traditional, because fresh water fish are more prone to parasites.

Some people confuse sushi with sashami(sp?) Sushi is not really raw fish, lots of stuff contains no fish or the fake crab meat which is cooked. I love sushi! NAV VET82, not sure where you are in central IL but I live in the Bloomington , Peoria area. try Sushi Popo in Peoria and Kobe Japanese Steakhouse in Bloomington. Also, Ming's Buffet in East Peoria and Bloomington is pretty good!

Not a big sushi fan. Wasabi is a flavor I have acquired after 4 years in Japan. Salmon sushi is amazing. So too is fugu sushi, but in the States it would cost laughable amounts of money.

In Malaysia, women likes sushi more than men. Sushi bars are great place for first dates.

There's a sushi place in the town right near mine. I was walking around on a date, and he said, "Look sushi! And it's cheap too!"

Cheap raw fish is something I'm very excited about, as you can see.

It was pretty tasty all the same.

It's the best thing ever. Seriously, I don't know what most people are talking about. Fish is at its both healthiest and tastiest (provided it is sushi grade fish) when it's raw. I could eat it everyday.

I love sushi. My favorite is the veggie roll with oshinko, avocado, cucumber, and carrot with extra gari and wasabi on the side. Yumm!
