Doctors suggest eating meat? I haven't met that doctor. Usually they are trying to limit people's meat intake to help limit heart disease, high cholesterol, obesity etc..

Vegetarians get more than enough protein without any animal flesh. Way too much protein can lead to even more issues such as osteoporosis.

Also, those who eat way too much meat are often ordered on vegetarian diets by their doctors later on in life.

Well, doctors also encourage us to take questionable drugs to mask symptoms, rather to find and treat the cause of our illnesses. We do NOT need meat or animal products to get adequate protein-this can be obtained from plant based sources, such as beans, legumes, vegetables, whole grains and other sources. Its basically a marketing ploy endorsed by the government, who is heavily supported by the meat industry. You can also get ALL of your vitamins from plant sources, including iron and B12. A well researched vegetarian diet is much healthier-I was crippled when I relied on doctors and their usesless and harmful drugs, and now I am totally fine on an organic, vegetarian diet. Its all in what we are taught to believe.

Doctors are generally very ignorant of nutrition.

You wouldn't ask a physicist how to fix your dishwasher, would you?

Any dietitian will tell you that people living the vegetarian/vegan lifestyle are the most healthy in the world.

Well, doctors get almost no nutritonal training whatsoever, so most of them are not well-versed in healthy eating. Although when I was working for a nephrologist (kidney doc), a number of patients were on low-protein diets.
