okay, I cooked spaghetti Bolognese and it is satisfactory, however, i want it to be slightly more spicy and bolder.
More basil? Oregano? Thyme?
or more red peppers?
Maybe some other spices?

I like the Michelina's microwavable level of spice, perhaps even a notch higher.

Problem is I dunno what kinda Spice to add to it,making it properly spicy without ruining the dish.

Best Help gets my BEST VOTE.
Thanks

I have cooked this dish about 6 dozen times, first from my uncle's 3 recipes, an original Bolognese, a French version and a spicy version of the first, which had a little kick. My uncle, who was a master chef, claimed that if you added too much spice it was no longer Bolognese. Naturally I had to find out myself. None of the bottled sauces worked, none of the Tex-Mex peppers, so on and so forth. What worked to a modest degree was dried crushed red pepper and an extra clove of garlic. They keep the recipe alive and have little distortive affect (just don't go overboard on the heat).
I now appreciate why he was a master chef and I am a dabbler.

If you want to maintain the tomato flavour but also improve the spiciness, try adding some chilli sauce to it.

My mum does this and now I've started doing it!

Or, fry some chopped chillies in with some onion and when they're halfway to browning, add the meat and completely brown that. Then you can just add your sauce.

Paprika's also a good spicer. I don't think herbs (thyme, basil, oregano) would add spiciness. They'll ruin the taste if u add too much.

Trust me. I'm Asian.

Haha...

I am Italian and I only use fresh ingredients:
First pour a couple of spoonfuls of olive oil in pan. Add minced carrots, rosmarin, sage, oregano, onion, Tyne and Majoran. Brown for a couple of minutes.
Add meat (ground beef and a couple of cut-up sausages. Brown for five minutes. Add tomato puree or fresh tomatoes, peeled.
Simmer for a couple of hours.
10 minutes before turning off flame add parsley and basil. adjust salt and pepper or red pepper.

A good dash of cayenne or some crushed garlic. You may want to put half a teaspoon of cumin powder too.
I've recently tasted clove in a Bolognese served to me and I must say that it was a really nice surprise.

Ya what I suggest is to put a little crushed nutmeg....you have to put all other ingredients like garlic, oregano and etc.
One other thing mix a little chicken liver into your meat and let it cook. It will make it very very delicious.
Try mixing onions, carrots, celery in small pieces it will also makes it much bolder
Try it ......satisfaction guarantied

to make it more spicy you can add tomato, onion, parsley, nutmeg, pepper, pink to pound. if you want my opinion, Bolognese is made as you like. i put onion, tomato, nutmeg, salt, pepper and parsley. it is simple but delicious! if you want to change it a little i recommend to add some cream of milk (is like yogurt).this will give another taste to your spaghetti Bolognese.
just give a try and i hope you to like it as much as i do!!!!this is a way made in Greece especially from my family!!!

Red pepper flakes, a bit of crushed fresh garlic, a little more black pepper &/or a splash of red wine.

Hmm, try using a bit more garlic with a nice strong wine (chianti is best for this), along with crushed red pepper flakes and salt. this should do it, and you wont lose your tomato flavor! Bon Apetit!!
