Genital warts are caused by the HPV virus, which is a virus that lives on the skin. When a person with HPV has warts, the virus is active and contagious. The type of HIV that causes the warts is not dangerous or the type that causes cancer, and it usually resolves itself within 2 years. The doctor can prescribe medication to remove the warts, or laser them off. Genital warts are very common, and your friend should not be embarrassed about going to the doctor. The cost of treatment varies with the type of treatment used, and should be discussed with the doctor.

Genital warts is a contagious condition acquired through sexual contact. Therefore, it can also be given to others. Only by having these removed by a dr. can this condition be resolved. Safe sexual practices are essential. Not having treatment has its own cost. Do you wish to infect all your friends with a preventable STD? Do you want to live with an STD?

Even if the person have the warts removed. It still doesn't cure HPV infections, and the warts may recur. But I recommend that you friend see his/her doctor for treatment.
