I've found that www.about.com has a history section that can link you to historic recipes for several eras. Also, if you ever order from amazon.com or other such sites, see if they have any ethnically and historically based cookbooks. I own several with titles like Eating Shakespeare and The Medieval Cookbook. The recipes I and my friends have tried have been interesting at the least and damn tasty at best.
