My fiancee just found out he has diabetes and doesn't really know what he should and can't drink and regular sodas are clearly off limits

My husband had to do the same, because of diabetes and they recommended diet sprite also sprite zero. Sprite zero has absolutely no aftertaste. Also diet 7-up have him try different diet sodas and see which ones he likes best. No one has the same taste preference. Also he can drink coffee if he likes it ( preferably decaf) but doesn't have to be. They told my husband regular was fine, at the V.A. They should have set him up an appointment to see a nutritionist so he knows not to use regular butter or what kind of cooking oils. Also to stay away from regular bread and about rice and pasta etc... My husband's sugar was up over 600, he is on insulin and pills both. Good luck, best wishes.

I'm a fan of Diet Mtn Dew. Also, Diet Dr. Pepper and Diet Sprite taste pretty close to the real stuff. If he is a fan of root beer, A&W makes a really good diet. You do get used to it, particularly when you aren't switching back and forth. And after a while, regular soda seems to have the aftertaste!

watch out with Diet Mt. dew there is orange juice in it which will still raise blood sugar.

My bf tends to like the colas with an extra flavor such as cherry, vanilla, berry ect.
honestly you just simply get used to the after taste. I used to HATE diet soda after being with my boyfriend i don't notice it at all anymore.

Try Sam's club, or walmart they have these sugar-free flavored waters that are very tastey and have quite a few flavors. We drink them ALL the time here.

to make a soda diet, you must take out evry ingredien tthat has any amount of calories in it. then they must take something that will imitate the original flavor and add it instead. so no matter how hard they try, diet soda will always taste a bit different.

I think that sodas in general whether diet or not are off limits for diabetics, but in my opinion the best diet soda out there with no after taste is Diet Dr. Pepper.

COKE ZERO
Vanilla Pepsi
Store Brand Black Cherry

If you are just switching from reg. to diet, it will take about a year to get used to the taste,,,,,,,,,,,,and after that, the reg. soda will taste funny
(like some kind of weird diet drink )

Fresca or Diet Cream Soda sweetened with splenda.

Well, I would look for diet sodas sweetened with splenda instead of aspartame. That tastes better and has less of an aftertaste. Also, I would look for sugar free drink mixes that have splenda in them instead of the aspartame.
