No, sugar water will stimulate the kidney to work over time. Most of the excess sugar will need to be discharge form the body i.e thru urinating.
To prevent dehydration, if dehydration salt is not available, try a glass of water with 1/4 teaspoon of salt + a squeeze of lime or lemon. Salt will stimulate the body to retain most of the water he drank.
Its either yr fiance learns to eat the local food or go on a diet of drinks (cocoa drinks, milk etc) & fruits,,,that normally helps.

No, that will help cause dehydration. Why can he not eat at least bread and cheese's and fruit unless he is going and has to be fasting. Then I would say he needs to drink plenty of water and take a good strong vitamin everyday. Or if possible a Ensure nutrition drink that gives you what your body needs in nutrients and vitamins drink one of those 3 times a day plus plenty of water. Ensure is good my neice had to drink 2 a day everyday because of her CF plus her regular meals. If she was sick I had her drink 3 a day, at least she would get the nutrients she needed when she didn't feel like eating right while sick. Good luck, best wishes.

She should certainly drink water.
I do find it a bit ridiculous that she "can't eat the food". Common on. There is always something to be found. Why not go to a market and buy fresh stuff.
So, in truth, I'm not quite buying your question.

If she's going to be there any length of time, that's really not healthy.
