Yes. In fact I have seen it happen first hand. If you are talking about the OTC kind, they are basically anti-histamine, which is what Benadryll is. I have to take a benadryll before I am infused with a medication at a hospital periodically and they check my heart rate every 20 minutes. It always slows down after taking the benadryll. They make me take the benadryll so I don't have an allergic reaction to the other stuff.

So definitely yes.

Which drug are you talking about is important, if it's benzodiazepenes, e.g. Valium or any thing else, etc well all of them Knock off your CNS and so the cardiac centre in the Medulla, and your heart rate falls down, and so does respiratory centre. Hence it is to avoided unless advised by your Dr. otherwise I have seen many patients collapsing in ICU and CCU.

As mentioned above Benadryl can. Benzodiazepam drugs can as well Ativan, Diazepam, etc.

Do you have a specific sleeping tablet that you are worried about?

Only if they contain diphenhydramine. Dipehnhydramine suppresses the CNS.
