Well, I actually haven't done it yet...but would love to. I think getting rid of my boyfriends kids would be an incredibly good thing for the environment. (*note* they've only been living with us for 3 years, so hopefully they will get better) They know we recycle but I continually find recyclables and batteries in the trash. They leave the lights, tv, video games, computer on when they aren't around. Don't shut the doors all the way. They leave the water running as they brush their teeth. Instead of throwing trash in the trash can, they leave it to blow away in the wind or just on the floor. They'll 'die' if they don't get certain things, which just end up making more trash and/or getting thrown away themselves. If they weren't around, there wouldn't be all those wasteful papers from school. They do ride their bikes to school, which is good for the environment.

Hmmm, here's a difference in some things with just my boyfriend and I compared to the 4 of us:
Just us- Takes 2 weeks to fill just one 1 trash bag. A month to fill the recycle bin. Electric bill is just over $100. Would be less if we didn't use ac, but it gets to be 110+ here so...

With them- Trash can and recycle bin is filled to capacity every week. I have no idea where it all comes from. Electric bill is over $150.

I'm sure many families have similar situations. I say let's get rid of the children and do the environment and our sanity a favor.

Recycled paper, cans, plastic bottles and film.
Freecycled a TV stand and got some speakers via the same site.
Composted kitchen waste, other food waste was put outside for the wildlife.
Bought some items from a table top sale at a local school and a neck tie from a charity shop plus reused some carrier bags.
Took rubble from a neighbour to use on a building project.

I refused the plastic bag when I bought a two pack of small batteries for a car keyless entry remote at Radio Shack. And I gave the dead battery to the clerk. He said they recycle old batteries.

I acquired some small house plants to take care of and I opened the windows and turned off all the fans and A/C.

I emptied my compost into the worm bin that I keep in my kitchen. When I went grocery shopping today I brought my own shopping bags and I didn't use any new plastic bags for produce.

I cuaght someone about to dump the coolant they use in the machine shop down the sewer drain. So instead we poured down the sink in the breakroom.

I didn't recycle today, and I never will. It is bad for the environment, do some research.
