Hi there,
Well it depends on where you live. For the sake of catering to the average Y! Answers demographic I will assume you live in a suburb or perhaps a spaced out city like San Antonio or Phoenix where people typically drive when they want to go somewhere.
Some, but not all cities have curbside pickup locations. In the less environmentally progressive areas where many cities don't have an organized curbside pickup program county government often times steps in and has recycling center drop off locations. While not quite as convenient as city sponsored curb side programs, county drop off locations are generally close by and very easy to use.
There are some states, like Rhode Island for example which do offer state wide programs, but these are pretty rare.
Now for the good stuff:
When in doubt visit http://earth911.org/ type in what you wish to recycle, paper, plastic, or select from the "more" drop down. Enter your zip code and it will present you with locations in your area. This site also will inform you of curb side programs if they exist in your area.
Visit your city website and search for "recycle". To locate your cities website just google it, "Richmond, VA" for example.
Thanks for doing your part and looking into recycling!
