She could very well just have a viral cold. I was sick for a month. I felt like I could die and nothing helped. I couldn't even get off the couch. I went through tons of testing and they found nothing. They actually put me on prednisone for the pain in my head and back and an antibiotic just to see if it helped. The prednisone helped with the pain, but I got sicker even after that. It took a long time to get over it. I was so sick that my bird actually caught it and I had to give him antibiotics for 10 days. Worse cold I've ever had and I hope I never get another one. Tell your friend I feel her pain and I hope she gets better soon.

You could very well have a sinus infection and those bumps could just be antibodies. However since the bumps do hurt you should go to a doctor ASAP because glands that are producing antibodies are relatively painless..I had a dime sized bump behind my ear that freaked me out but I went to the doctor and found that because I had a few zits on my ear it was a gland that was producing antibodies. It could very well be the same thing in your case. It's not likely to be a sinus infection though if you aren't having a runny nose, or stopped up through with flem..but at the top of your nose is wear your passages generally get clogged up

Usually, when you have phlegm, its a sign of a cold leaving a body.

The aching backbone could be where the cold went after it was through with the lungs. A slight kidney infection.

As your friend has seen a medical professional - try searching diagnosis by symptoms, there are several sites
available using a "tick the box" of current symptoms that may help
