Well, one observational study done up in Scandavania showed that people who donated blood regularly had a lower risk of death from heart disease.

What was unclear from the study, however, is if it was the act of donating blood that lowered the risk of heart disease OR if it was that people who donate blood regularly tend to be healthier (either because they lead healthy lifestyles or because the rules for blood donation tend to keep unhealthy people from donating in the first place).
