I developed a severe sore throat after cutting through some insulation from an old store. I decided to see a doctor about this because it was unusual for me to have one. When I went I told him that the insulation might have been the cause of my sore throat. The Doctor replied well thats not the cause, it is either bacterial or viral. He performed some tests on me and both the test came back negative for both. That was it, I went home without answers to the reason. I was thinking it might have been asbestos related. I am just not the same lately my sore throats come back, I have dry mouth constantly, and excess phlem with blood. I would appreciate anyones answers for the possible cause of these symptoms. Thank You!

Zoiks, phlegm with blood? You need a new doctor ASAP. Even if it's not asbestos, it could be some other fibers, even glass.

Did you wear eye and nose protection?
Soreness in the nose and throat can result when fibers are inhaled. Little information is known about the health effects caused by small fibers. Smaller fibers have the ability to reach the lower part of the lungs increasing the chance of adverse health effects.
Find a licensed doctor, not a clown who poses as one.

1. See another doctor, soon.
2. Contact CPSC about it.

Could be Mono, from your description. If it is, expect several weeks of feeling crappy. It is related to a viral infection I think. You might try another doctor for a second opinion. Strep has a nasty way of causing serious health concerns too. Both are contagious and common.

Insulation, could have been fiberglass? If you inhaled fiberglass it would stick in your throat like glass and that would be sore. However excess phlegm with blood needs to be investigated, I assume you are coughing this up, so see a Doctor.

Sounds to me like you had a Dr., that wasn't interested in what you had to say. I would go ASAP to another Dr.. There are certain Dr's. that I just don't get that Dr./Patient connection with. I will not return. I tell the next Dr. why I left the other & we are off to a great start. So it works for me. I have your problem except no blood. I have GERD. Acid reflux and on Mon. am having an upper GI study done.
Please go see another Dr.. You have a problem and it needs attention. Good luck to you & I sure would like to know your outcome. God Bless you & Please make that app..~~~~~

Yup, post nasal drip sure can cause this. To evaluate the symptoms better, i recomment seeing an ENT.

Obviously you are right and the doctor is a dunce. I'm not being sarcastic.

I urge you to see a specialist like an ENT doc. (ears, nose and throat)
