My wife got trichomonas vaginalis, and I read that this is a sexually transmited disease (STD), but neither my wife or me have been unfaithful. So I'd like to know if there's another alternative transmission method rather than sexual for this disease.

Thanks a lot for your help in advance.
P.S. I'm very worried and I was thinking in asking the divorce. Please help me. - Sorry for my english

It is rare, but it can happen and I know for a fact. I was diagnosed with trichomonis about 3 months ago when I had a pap smear come back as abnormal. I have not had sex in 2 years. I have no one in my life or have had no one in my life for 2 years now. Last year, my pap was normal and I had nothing wrong with me. I went 3 months ago for my check up this year and I had trichomonis. It can happen and it does happen. I told my doctor I had not had any sexual intercourse in 2 years. He told me it may have lain dormant but I doubt that because I would have had some type of symptoms, etc. All I know is, I did get it and I have not had sexual intercourse in two years. It is curable. I took medicine for 10 days, had another check up and it is gone. Be sure you see your doctor also and get medication so you don't pass it back and forth etc. Many people may answer this question and say that someone was unfaithful. I would not start divorce proceedings because it did happen to me and I am still astonished by it.

Best wishes.

Most of the time the normal vaginal flora manges to keep this bug under control. The normal flora's protection can be disrupted due to prescription antibiotics, immuno-compromise, diabetes, douching, and other conditions. It is easily treated, don't assume infidelity.

It may be possible that she has had it for years. I know this may be gross but my GRANDMOTHER was diagnosed with trichmoniasis and she told the DR. How in the hell did I get TRICH and have not had sex in 10 or 15 years.

Non- sexual transmission is rare, but has occurred.
Also, it is possible that she got it before she met you.
Have you been tested? Maybe she got it from you.
Check before you point fingers.

She could have got it from you. Men don't show symptoms....it could be from a long time ago.
But it's only transmitted through sex.

Hell no! Somebody is lying. Both of you need to go together and get check out.
