plan well and have a plan b
you should have a volleyball net and ball
everyone should bring their own chairs
have badmonton and a bocce set, bring a rake also
have a good music source with backup batteries
have everyone bring something to eat and make it potluck
have lots of ice on hand and cold pop, water and juices
have snack foods
if someone plays guitar, have them bring it
umbrella to protect from the sun
folding tables for the food
lots of sun screen and tanning lotion
ask people to bring a bbq, briquettes or whatever they have to cook with.... if you are going to cook and have someone else brings the dogs or hamburgers.
If there is party, people are more than happy to pitch in.
Don't try to organize everything and everyone.
call and confirm what people are bringing so everything is covered.
bring frizbee and anything else like hi-li to play.....

Depends on the ages of the people attending..A quick funny one that always went over for us "College" guys.
We'd buy a watermelon, cut a 2 inch square out of it (just a hole in the side) and pour vodka into it until it held the whole bottle. Put the cut out plug back into it and bury it the night before in the cool moist sand. About 2 foot deep.
It was fun digging it up and rinsing it off and having the party members all have some. If the ages are right, it's a fun yet harmless thing to do.

If you're really on a beach, you don't have to do much except bring food and beverages and some music, maybe some beach chairs or blankets... Tiki torches are nice, too, but need to check local regulations regarding open flames...
If you're having a beach themed party in a non-beach atmosphere, then you're going to have to go to a bit more effort. Try this:
* use beach towels as tablecloths and/or to cover furniture.
* play Beach Boys and Jimmy Buffett tunes
* serve tropical drinks with little umbrellas and skewered fruit
* have a centerpiece with some sand and shells a candle or three all inside a fishbowl or other large bowl
* if held outdoors, use tiki torches
* asks your guests to wear beach attire
Hope these tips help!

Depends..if its inside and you have some money to spend, get a hot bartender in beach wear, serve cool drinks in pretty glass, have sand and blow up palm trees, have everyone wear beach stuff, have good summer music, and it would be really cool to have a tanning lamp or hire someone to come to your house to do spray tans, thatd be really cool, that would def. be a party i would go to
