Obviously he has realized what he's let go,perhaps that's why he let it go..........
You need to let him be happy & get on with his own life now,let him move on & find someone he can be happy with,you should do the same & accept he does'nt want a relationship with you anymore,so trying to get him "gutted",what you do he probably won't be bothered by it anyway,let him go & move on :)

why are you using so much energy and time on someone you are not with any longer? spend that time doing something that will enrich your life WITHOUT him
