It's inevitable they will turn black. When I buy them, I usually buy 2 different bunches. The first bunch I'll pick will be bright yellow & ripe or a bit under-ripe. The second bunch I'll pick, I try to find ones that are still a little green. By the time the first bunch is all gone, the green ones will just be turning yellow. That will usually last me throughout the week until the next trip to the grocery store. And even if they do turn black, you can always make banana bread!

The best way to keep a banana is in the fridge. It will turn black but the inside will be perfect.

Take your ripe bananas and wrap then very tightly in Aluminium Foil with no air coming in - and you can keep them in your fridge for up to one month. The skin may discolour a little but the inside is as good as it was the day you put them in the fridge.
