I would like to agree on trust as many have pointed out but in real life trust is easier said than done. There is always a certain level of mistrust possibly due to lack of confidence and assurance.
I believed respect and patience are keys to preserving a long and healthy relationship. Couples and families that have strong bonds often communicate be they arguments, quarrels or words of comfort. They go through trials and tribulations and at the end of it, calm down and start reflecting with sane minds and they may be the catalyst to stronger bonds.
Respect is the way to level a situation and patience will certainly prevent any unwarranted foolish act. Things can be resolved however difficult if one party is calm enough to reason out even though it may be unreasonable.
I have friends that end their marriages because of impatience and that finally lead to lost of respect by throwing insults at each other. These are common phenomenons that end up in total irreversible situations.
Respect each other as what or who they are and close an eye should there be a shortfall is the way to go.

The most important thing in a relationship is how you value one another. There are things that though you have gotten too easy has possibility of being esteemed to lightly it is only one's dearness that gives everything its value. Although we were able to get it too easy when it get lost far beyond our reach....disappointment will then follow. So when you enter into one value it.

I agree with the majority! Trust...If you are able to trust each other then you know that you have everything else working for you.
You cant trust someone fully who you cant communicate well with, see eye to eye, have similar goals, etc.
Trusting them also means that you both have an understanding of what the other wants and needs. In the end it comes down to when you are able to put the other person's needs in front of your, because you know that you are the priority for them, then you have reached ultimate trust and love.
