The people that made this movie hate mormons...that simple.

Would you go talk to Al Quaida to find out what it's like to live in America? What America is all about?

Of course not. You'll get a few truthful things mixed with lots of hate and skewed data, etc.

They take obscure doctrine and make it appear to be the core of Mormonism.

This would be like saying "Christians support the slaughter of caananite men, women, and children"

Yes, there's a biblical basis for that statement, but you wouldn't say it's the heart of Christianity or a good starting place for what Christians believe.

Go to Mormon.org and have the missionaries come by your house. The'll spend 30-60 minutes with you, give you some of the basics, give you a free Book of Mormon. If you enjoyed it, and want them back, have them back again. There are only 5 lessons or so that they teach. This will give you a good idea of what Mormons do and don't believe in.

This video is from a group that Hates Mormons and has no problem mixing lies with truthe to slander them.

1. This isn't put out by the Mormon Church
2. "Real Mormon theology" it is called. But what someone has done here is take bits and pieces of ideas and interpretted those and come up with thier own version of a religion. The problem is, this is not the Mormon religion that they have put together. I won't even call it a nice try. Very strange video.
3. You can't really go through and say what is and what isn't because everything, and I mean everything has been distorted.
4. Keep your eyes open and follow the Spirit of God. The Mormon/LDS church teaches the truth of God.

I love the church and I invite all to learn about it because it's wonderful. It's sad that people will try and distort the beautiful truths that are taught. God bless you!

Pretty much the only correct thing in that video is that we are called Mormons. Many of the things in that video are WAY over done and not even close to the truth, many things are false and many are taken completely out of context... if you have something specific that you are wondering about, just ask.
Seriously, I love how people label us as a "cult". We follow our living prophet, who answers directly to the Lord... we beleive in and love our Savior Jesus Christ. We believe in eternal family, the restored gospel, living prophets, revelation, and many more things.
People who take the time to TRULY find out what we believe, they may accept it or not, will at least know that we are just normal people trying to live the gospel.
If you would ever like the missionaries to come and answer questions - they are a lot more knowledgeable than some of us! - they would be happy to come visit, no pressure. I can even try and answer any questions you might have...
Good luck.

You should be extremely careful when trying to learn about Mormons on the Internet because there are many, many lies, distortions, and conspiracy theories. Anyone can publish anything on the web; there are many people in this country (and in the world) that are quite bigoted against Mormons.

I believe this cartoon is part of a film called "The God Makers" that was condemned by the Jewish Anti-Defamation League as anti-Mormon bigoted propaganda. Also, the site one user listed, "www dot carm dot org," is run by anti-Mormons and is probably not trustworthy. Aside from talking to Mormon friends, you might try visiting sites that are actually run by Mormons. We know what we believe better than anyone! Here's a list:

http://www.allaboutmormons.com/mormon_beliefs_god_the_father.php (my site!)
http://www.mormon.org (official LDS site)
http://www.mormonwiki.com/Main_Page (site made by my friends)

Hope this helps! Mormon Christianity has changed my life by helping me better follow Jesus Christ. Good luck with your research!

You didn't link what video this was so I can only speculate. There are videos and websites by antis that are strongly biased against Mormons, and there are LDS videos and websites that present a sanitized version of their beliefs for public consumption. If you really dig into it you will find the true lies somewhere in between.

The Book of Mormon itself teaches the selfsame gospel as the Bible does, only it deals with an ancient people who inhabited the Americas long before the time of Columbus. I have read it cover to cover 4 times and found nothing contrary to the Bible within it (other than perhaps some parts of the Old Testament seem to support polygamy while the Book of Mormon strongly condemns it).

After the death of Joseph Smith (at the hands of so called Christian mobs) the original church split apart into many factions. Today there are some 100 factions with only a handful being of any significant size. Most of these factions are very similar to a Protestant Bible only church such as the Church of Christ (Temple Lot), the Church of Jesus Christ, and the Community of Christ. Brigham Young took the largest faction to Utah and instituted polygamy and racism against Africans (most of the other factions never had such things).

There are other strange doctrines practiced by the LDS Utah faction that are not only completely absent from the Book of Mormon, but even taught AGAINST. These doctrines include Celestial Marriage, Baptism for the Dead, Celestial Marriage for the Dead, 3 Degrees of Glory, the 1st President, a changing God, man can become Gods, God was once a man, and many other lesser doctrines. They usually don't speak a whole lot about these doctrines to investigators, and instead teach Book of Mormon doctrines (same as the Bible's) and only lightly touch upon their more controversial beliefs. Many of them are not even aware of what the Book of Mormon really teaches or how messed up their history is. Polygamy is a really messed up doctrine in that many of the women just HATED it, and the Book of Mormon describes the practice as a whoredom and abomination before God, no exceptions, no excuses.

I ended up leaving the LDS church BECAUSE I believe in the Book of Mormon (and Bible) and ended up joining one of the other factions that actually follow it.

What video was this? It didn't by any chance talk about "eternal Celestial sex" and "spirit BABIES" did it?

If you want to know what we believe, go to http://www.mormon.org . you can also read the Book of Mormon online for free. go to http://scriptures.lds.org At Mormon.org you can also request a free copy of the Book of Mormon, and it can be delivered by the missionaries who would be happy to explain to you what we believe.

The Mormons are a cult. There history is full of polygamy, cannibalism and massacres of innocent people. They try to cover up their past, but the founders of this cult were not nice people. I would recommend reading the history of the Mormons first. The Bible states that with Bible should not be added to. The Mormons have added the Book of Mormon and the Pearl of Great Price to the same status as the Bible. Watch out for this cult as they will try to brainwash you.

I would like to add three of my favorite links for info on the LDS religion:
http://www.lifeafter.com/
http://www.utlm.org/
http://www.bornagainmormon.com/

These people are Christians who have left the LDS church, you can trust what they have to say.
