Africa was the last continent which was colonized by the Europeans specially the western Africa.
1) divide and conquer. they were experts by now in the art of divide and conquer and religion was a great tool. now even more clever than that was the reason why Africa was divided vertically rather than horizontal! they made sure that more people and/or tribes to live in each country and assure they will not unify. divide them further socio-economically as well. one can write a book on this tool alone. they also shipped slaves down tho cost and pick a few on their way down the cosi to assure they won't be able to communicate and unite! we keep blaming the victims, the African masses rather than the colonists who are still gaining from the divisions which they created! do you know of any other tools of empire!

what infrastructure did Africans have that got destroyed! they couldn't even trade within the continent since their railroads wasn't compatible with their neighbors! (french railroad vs English). colonists assured that. they also created a single commodity nations out of them! they even didn't give them the technology to finish ie; palm oil into soap. they shipped them to the colonies and shipped back the soap. soap prices increased but not the price of palm oil. what infra-structure they had to help them become self sufficient? any ways even if there were bridges , etc, they were destroyed since their borders are made legitametly. divide and conquer. it is simple. why you can't see it?

Funny the Colonies are long gone and Africa still has the hand out to the rest of the world for help!
What was the first thing done in any African country after it was handed over to the Africans, they burnt, wrecked and vandalized all the factory's, and infrastructure then when they have nothing to work with they look for help from the west!
The above was witnessed in the ex-Portuguese Angola, the ex-Belgian Congo, ex-British Nigeria, Kenya, and currently in Zimbabwe.
Most slaves were taken by Arab Muslim Slave traders and sold to British & American agents on the coasts.
My answer is nothing as confused the "MEGA TOOL" who posted the question, he is obviously an jack of all trades but a MASTER of NONE!!

The slave traded ended before full scale European Colonization began. In fact that was one of the justifications for colonization, to end the slave trade. Africa was not broke up as part of a greater divided and conquer scheme. You give the Europeans to much credit. It was divided up by who could grab what first. After WWI it was further split up by the Annexation of German Colonies. It was not intentional done to split tribes, they just did not care if the tribes where split.
It has been over 30 years since that last major colony was made independent. If tribal splits are the problem, why do the Africans not redraw their own map? Either by adjusting the borders or forming new countries.

Because it is a primarily Black country and its divisions have brought about so much discord, I think that most Americans have little understanding of the history or problems of Africa. Let's face it, Americans live in a bubble. We have little idea of the misery and mayhem that takes place in other countries as daily occurrences. We hear of them occasionally, but don't take the time and effort to truly understand.
Africa was rich lode for European nations. The animal life, the cheap labor, the diamond mines...you name it. It was exploited by every country from Britain to the Netherlands, and they weren't too worried about the comfort of the Africans themselves until the uprisings began and the Mau Mau came in the night to hack and destroy. Although S. Africa had had racial problems for many years, the central part of the country had remained fairly peaceful before this revolt.
Religion played a huge hand in the exploitation of Africa. They came with their good intentions and their Bibles, and tried to change these tribes into White Christians. They may have tried to help medically, but in truth, they destroyed native culture and left a trail of confusion.
Africa is a land of rich resources and is still exploited in many ways. When marauding soldiers practice genocide, it is left for years before any other country raises a hand to help. Its oil is siphoned off, the diamonds make millionaires out of mine owners, the animal life was depleted by safaris and the depletion is continued by the ignorance of the natives and the lucrative payments other nations have made for various animal parts.
Someday, I feel Africa will take its rightful place among nations. Someday a central government will unite these fledgling countries and they will realize that only by joining together will they benefit from their land and its bounties...a land for Africans, not for Isak Dinesens or Ernest Hemingways or rich diamond merchants, or others like them, but a land bringing prosperity to its native tribes.
