he is 3 years old and he lost all of his puppy teeth when he was a puppy he is a male chiuhuahua and i dont understand why he is losing teeth now, and i need to no if i need to take him to the vet. i take great care of his teeth i brush them when the vet recommended.

That is a tendancy Chihuahau's have, is teeth loss.
I have a 1/2 Chi, 1/2 Terrier, a spoiled rotten brat,.. she started losing her teeth around 5-6 yrs. old.
She's now 13 yrs. old and has 1 crooked bottom fang sticking out and some back teeth.
BUT that IS a rather earlier age for teeth loss. It has to do with the breed and genetics.
But take to vet still, just in case there's gum disease involved.

Some small dogs have premature tooth loss.
Small dog owners really have to take care of the teeth and keep them clean. If not they will lose them prematurely.
I take mine in for a cleaning whenever they start getting calculus buildup on their teeth.
Also rinses and tooth brushing helps. But these things have to be done almost everyday.
Take your dog into the vet and talk to the vet about his teeth.

The vet is the best some chis are prone to loose teeth early and some is do to feeding can or soft foods..
I have found even when you give dog biscuts give the LARGE like for the shpherd so they can really knaw on it.

It's probably gum disease. Sometimes little dogs can actually pull out their own teeth when they pull and play too rough.
He should see a vet for dental care. If they get really bad, I personally would just have them pulled if he were my dog. Gum disease causes heart disease, so it just isn't worth the risk.

You should talk to your vet or if you bought from a breeder ask if the mommy or daddy had the same problem, it might be genetics or it might be a bone and gum disease.
