On removing old paper from a wall in my lounge, pieces of plaster came off. I have had these patches plastered now and all is o.k.
My question is, can I use some wallpaper paste that was left over from the hallway that has just been decorated to size the wall before papering?

Yes, no problem with using paste to size the wall.
Old plaster often detaches itself this way, it might be worth sizing the whole wall or perhaps just the bits that look porouse with pva to stabilise it before decorating again.

If the wood slats are nevertheless at the back of the hollow then i might only fill it with the two plaster of paris or quickly drying spackle. If the hollow is thoroughly open you may conceal it with the two a patch (you need to purchase them in maximum residing house progression shops) or get some fiberglass drywall tape and canopy the hollow and then use one or the different to fill it in. i might advise utilising countless mild coats, spreading the spackle out a touch farther with each and each coat so as which you have the phantasm of a flat wall. in case you may in wonderful condition a huge wood paint stirrer into the hollow, tie a string to it and pull it tight against the returned of the hollow, force 2 drywall screws into the stirrer on the two area of the hollow. decrease the string and commence filling.

I always size the back of my wallpaper with paste before putting it up,even the prepasted type. I find it holds better.I don't know what PVA or emulsion is though
