Elmo, this is not a reasonable question, and you know it isn't. Your question is biased, and clearly implies the answer that you want to hear.

Professional troops are exactly that - it doesn't matter whether they are American, British, French or any other nationality. Their job is to carry out their governments business and to strictly follow rules of engagement.

Americans should be supportive of their troops - as should we in the UK. At the end of the day, they are only armed citizens carrying out the will of their nations.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the military campaigns our troops are in, they are only there because their political masters put them there. And if you are unhappy about that , you have the ability to make a profound difference....by voting. However, my guess is that you, and many others like you, would rather provide running commentary from the sidelines than actively using your voting power to change things (apologies if I'm wrong about this).

I realize servicemen as a whole aren't angels, but that site seems to specialize in old news.

And no, freedom of speech/expression/whatever applies when you're standing on a soap box on a street corner preaching about how things should be different. On a private website such as Yahoo, you're given the privilege to do so, not the freedom. If they want to take that privilege away, chances are you deserve it and they'd be perfectly justified to even if not.

The UK has the same problem as the US.

People quick to point out that they do not support the war in Iraq or the troops carrying out their political masters wishes - but who at the same time vote for those same politicians at election time.

It's called hypocrisy on both sides of the Atlantic!!

as an ex british soldier i fully support all allied troops right or wrong, who sir do you think you are to judge such men. you i believe are what is referred to as an armchair general someone who likes to think they know the full story and all the conspiracies yet you dont really have a clue at all.
believe me youd shite yourself just flying near to these places letalone actually going there to try to make a difference, the media report what they want to report. having had to escort these bottom feeders around the balkans during the war i have first hand experience of how they turn news to their own perception.
all americans whether for or against the war strongly protect and respect their armed forces or there not really patriotic at all are they.

Damn Proud!!!!! It's a WAR!!!!!! They are not pretty and never nice they are ugly, thats just the way it is. I guess some people would prefer our guys to just ask the enemies to very nice like put down their weapons and do what they should get a grip its not what anyone wants but civilians do get killed mostly by their own ppl but sometimes not

Also notice in your video that there is not mention of the ground observer, the troops that were attacked, other ground radio calls or readings from the UAV footage that tracked those individuals from their attack to their attempted escape.

Its easy to try and incriminate someone, or an entire organization, when you only show one speck of an entire picture.

Of course I am! Mistakes happen all the time (and I'm not saying this was one) and you've obviously never had to make split second, life altering decisions while on the move!

Get a life.

I think the American people can be proud of their troops while not approving of the role they are playing. I think they are ashamed of their troops when they fall short of civilised standards - as in Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib.

We're all proud of the troops, less proud of the politicians who send them to do their dirty bidding.

Another baseless attack by people trained to spread lies about American troops. I am still proud of our troops am a little less proud of our left wing media who want to bash the troops so badly that they will report any allegation as hard news.
