Check around with Ins. company's. See what has a lower rate the Beemer or the Z? Then you need to look at the cost of parts if some thing should go wrong. I have driven both a 350Z and a 325i. My opinion is the BMW is over rated. The BMW 3 series is a high priced, low powered six cylinder motor. I have a (stock) 78 Toyota Celica st that has taken a BMW 325i in a 1/4 mile street drag. Don't get me wrong, The BMW looks nice inside and out but looks do not give power and when you have an electrical problem w/the 325i.....$$$$$$$$$$$ will be the next thing you will need before you place it up for sale.
If I was given the choice, it would be the Nissan 350z.
hands down. Parts are readily available, inexpensive and easy to install your self.

I would prefer the 325i. The 350Z is too small for me. Plus, its more like a 2 seater car. The 325i is a pretty fun car to drive.

Nissan 350 z more reliable better looks, handles better, parts easier to get. Only downer is resale compared to BMW's in lot of places. But if you are like most of the legion of 280z, 300z and 450z owners you'll probably drive until the wheels fall off so resale is not that important.
