I dunno, but then again I do see all these bumper stickers which read "Jesus Is God, Read The Bible/Jesus Es Dios, Lea La Bibla."
So... yeah, I think you're right. I never really reflected on the Oedipus thing going on here.
Of course I assume that your average Christian will tell you that it was all divine and stuff, it's not like God came down and totally boned Mary one night. That kind of thing is for the Greeks, and you know what THEY and their gods got up to.

As a Christian I would have to admit that "yes" that is a human way to look at it. But for me as a Christian I look at it as a holy event and really nothing to laugh about.
God the Father is Spirit; and God the Son is Jesus Christ; God is the Holy Spirit also. So God is not limited like man is in one form or another.
The plan of salvation prophesied in the Old Testament in Isaiah 7:14 said "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." And in the New Testament when Jesus was born it say in Matthew 1:23 "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" —which means, "God with us."
It is hard to understand. The only balance I have is that when Jesus Christ was being killed by man he prayed to his Father "forgive them for they know not what they do".
So it is definitely true that man will never understand or honor the ways of God.

Don't look at understanding these kind of things with human logic because it goes far beyond that. Holy Mary was impregnated in a supernatural - non physical manner from God to physically give birth to Jesus Christ the Son of God.

God was the one who chose mary to have Jesus. But Jesus the man.. many dont see that Jesus was actually 100%human and 100%God. So yes.. with Jesus the man.. No with God. But yes Jesus is God. get it? or is this too confusing?

Brother you have a great explanation there is not much I can add . John 10:30 is talking about Jehovah & Jesus , two not three hence carries no weight look at John 10:29& 30 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all[c]; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.” Jesus is stating Jehovah is greater & his flock is in Jehovah's hand , not his.If Jesus was claiming to be God would it not be the flock was in the hands of Jesus & would not Jehovah & Jesus be equal ? The one Jesus was talking about is like a family is one or a football team is one.

God, to most, is a symbolic concept! Pregnant imagination, nurtured with wisdom and maturity, and growing in spirituality and the "other-world-wisdom", will find answers to the debate regarding God and Son of God, some where along the line, as one grows, as one journeys along on the track of life and quest! There are, indeed, many co-passengers!

Jesus = Son of Jehovah God
Jehovah = Grand Creator, Sovereign Ruler, Heavenly Father, Jehovah God
The Hebrew Scriptures are consistently clear in showing that there is but one Almighty God, the Creator of all things and the Most High, whose name is Jehovah. (Genesis 17:1; Isaiah 45:18; Psalms 83:18) For that reason Moses could say to the nation of Israel: “Jehovah our God is one Jehovah. And you must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your vital force.” (Deuteronomy 6:4, 5) The Christian Greek Scriptures do not contradict this teaching that had been accepted and believed by God’s servants for thousands of years, but instead they support it. (Mark 12:29; Romans 3:29, 30; 1Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:4-6; 1Timothy 2:5)
Jesus Christ himself said, “The Father is greater than I am” and referred to the Father as his God, “the only true God.” (John 14:28; 17:3; 20:17; Mark 15:34; Revelations 1:1; 3:12) On numerous occasions Jesus expressed his inferiority and subordination to his Father. (Matthew 4:9, 10; 20:23; Luke 22:41, 42; John 5:19; 8:42; 13:16)
Even after Jesus’ ascension into heaven his apostles continued to present the same picture. (1Corinthians 11:3; 15:20, 24-28; 1Peter 1:3; 1Johb 2:1; 4:9, 10)
Jesus always said his father was greater than he was.

The Father of the child was a Roman Official
In those days both the local natives and the Roman Officials themselves thought that Roman Officials were Gods
The Ceasar chose his local representatives by family lineage in order to get impressive presentable presences of Majesty for Adoration
So when The Hunk that Governed Jeruselem came by
Mother Mary said to him
Let it be, let it be. Yeah
That will be an answer, let it be.
And when the night is rowdy,
That is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
That will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
