Wikipedia is a great tool for getting an introduction to a subject, but as with any other text - and I mean ANY other text - you will run into problems if you don't know how to read critically. Critical reading of texts seems to be a problem for some users of this site.
Following links or doing your own searches can help you get a sense of whether something is reliable or not.
Some of the articles are comprehensive, accurate and of the highest standard. Some are just tosh. When you've used it for a while you get a sense of what is likely to be good or not.

I use my own library...call me a prude, but I have my own. Shrug...it beats going to the library when I want to do research, and it also beat having to weed through the stuff on the internet that has questionable reliability. Encyclopedia Britannica is great. History of the world by Ariel and Will Durant. Joseph Campbell's books on mythology are very good. You might think it dry and boring, but it is very entertaining. I highly recommend the story about the Hawaiian God Tuna. It tells you how the coconuts got started!

I know some bosses who use Dilbert as a guide.
OK I'll admit if I only want an overview, or key words to Google I'll check the religious enterieson Wikki.
See I said it!!

No, when I'm curious about religious beliefs or folklore and mythology, I go to the library and borrow a real, actual, physical book and read the bloody thing.

Wikipedia isn't that horrible. I've read through the Catholic section (I'm Catholic) and everything I read was correct Church teaching.

I've looked at it now and again for simple issues. Otherwise, I took some religion classes in college and I still have my books.
