Low fat cottage cheese is a good substitute for real cheese when you are trying to lose weight. It's creamy and tasty on crackers or toast. It just never seems to satisfy my hunger like real cheese.

Low fat cheese is readily available in supermarkets and that might be a better option for you.

It tastes good to me. It is a good way to add calcium and protein to ones diet. Goes really good with fruit. I like it with garlic salt and pepper, also. If you want to diet, remember...every thing in moderation. You don't need to cut any food out of your diet. two bites of the high fat/calorie foods are all you need....the first bite and the last bite, all the others taste the same. i think I'll go have some cottage cheese right now..sounds good.

I don't know how to describe the taste, but I like it a lot, have since I was little. You can eat plain, or with all kinds of veggies or fruit. My mom used to put it on top of canned pineapple or peaches, or fresh tomatoes or cucumber. Its also good if you make cottage chz salad, just make a salad and add cottage chz basically! And when i have it with veggies, I add salt & pepper to it, or also garlic or season salt sometimes. LOL. Its also a good substitue of ricotta chz in lasagne!

If you find it a bit bland, you can add sorts of other things to it to spice it up - a bit of garlic powder, some chilli powder, a minute amount of Marmite, sweeten it with some runny honey.
It's good to use as a stuffing for baked peppers, and serve fresh figs with a good dollop of cheese then a drizzle of honey. Use it on jacket potatoes instead of butter.
It's pretty low in calories so often forms parts of a dieter's diet.
I always used to make my own - soured milk strained through muslin.
