Lucid Freedom: when I say fundie, I don't mean to one religion only it could be anyone and I'm not even refferring to the religion at all... it is to the people who practices it wrong because the idea of a church tha tells to its members to bash others can't be comprehensive to my head.... I think that the people, not their churches at all are the ones doing this. It bothers me a lot when Atheists, Mormons or any other person from another religion is told that they are going to heck by another sinner because we are all sinners. I hate the religion bashing stuff and that's why I ask this kind of things. Who are we to judge each other in that way? Isn't God the only one that is supposed to do that? Don't take it personal please, I know you're cool. Hugs ^_^

Baptist preacahers bash other religions from the pulpit all the time. I know - I once was a Baptist. They also scare the hell out of their parishners. It's the only reason that I got baptized by them - I was scarred of hell. I feared a vengeful god.
It wasn't until the mormon missionaries taught me of the love of my Heavenly Father that I finally understood who God was.

This question bothers me, you always go on about people making fun of you for being a mormon and here you are making a big deal and calling born agains "fundies" Arent you a fundamentalist mormon? Doesnt means you follow very strict edicts within your church and have alot of legalism you must follow to be deemed "good" in your church? If I had to choose one religion that is full of fundamentalists, Mormonism would be one on top of the list. You should not judge yourself imo

I am not a fundamentalist. I am a Catholic.
After reading the entire chapter...twice... It seems to me what our Lord is saying is that salvation is not just "being saved" but by what you do as well. It takes both works and belief to enter the "narrow" passage into the Kingdom of God.
Being Catholic of course I would interpret the part of the chapter of the "house built on the rock" which withstands the storm as the Catholic church vs. "those built in sand" which wash away....have no basis, no roots.
I also think you're egging on a bit. This may be perceived as the sin of judgment by some. I perceive it as a charitable way of asking you not to spoil for a fight. This is my opinion only.
In humility,
j

I guess I could be called a Fundie, since I'm religous and believe people go to hell. But I never condem people to hell, or say they're going to hell. That is for God to judge. However, I will judge what is sin according to the Bible. Its not like I don't think people should judge...I think they should judge what sin is and what its not, but not the person.

I'm not a fundie (I'm a Catholic. Fundamentalists are Protestant.) but I'll give this a shot.
There's a difference between Judging and Warning. If I tell my sister to look both ways before crossing the street I'm not judging her.

Nobody has the right to say if you are going to hell or not. It is not right to judge people. But it seems to me that you were not asking that question to Christians. You asked it to people who have had so called Christians judge them. I don't tell people that they are going to hell, I just tell them how they can get to heaven. :)

They are too busy pointing the finger at others to take a look at themselves. The scriptures you listed are very appropriate. They would rather report someone that makes them look bad than take a hard look at themselves and admit they are the problem.
Goodnight Princess, talk to you tomorrow.

If we are brothers. Also we are both criminals and sentenced to prison, our court date is tommorow.
Would you want me to tell you how you could recieve a "get out of jail free card.", or would you rather me keep it to myself and watch you suffer in prison?
I have done some pretty bad, un-ethical things in my life. I can tell you now, that there is no bigger sinner than I, that I know of.

I'm not a 'fundie', but I'll throw something in....
When one gets the 'log' out of his/her eye, what then? Do we not then judge RIGHTEOUS JUDGEMENT? This is what the 'church' should be doing, but doesn't.
And we do not judge the world, because the world will be judged on its own. So have fun in hell...I've got work to do. :-)
