go with what you think is right for you. you seem like you really like this guy although your friend doesn't and you think that she secretly likes him. if she does, then she should either tell you or keep silent and not talk about him. you should do what you want to do and not listen to her unless you think what she is saying is the truth. if you don't know who to believe, ask her to tell you why she thinks he's a jerk.

Boys come and go but friendship lasts a lifetime.
It is possible that she see's him in a better prospective, ya know, step back and look at the whole picture, sort of thing.
Have her give you detailed reasons why she does not like him.
If you can not honestly disagree with what she is saying, then maybe she is right.
Or a good way to stay friends with all is to go on a double date. Have your guy friend hook her up with one of his friends and then you all go out. let her see that he is not a bad guy and that will make life much easier for you too.
good luck

It chooses You
If you believe in yourself. Trust youself
Rule no.1 never tell a friend or unknowing foes, how good you man is, envy bait...mistaken as bragging, breeds competition
a true friend is there to pick you up when you fall.
not pull you down if you feel bliss.
A good a friend doesn't have bragging rights that may hurt the seemingly undesirable one.
Keep living.

Do what you feel is right for you. The thing is your girl is jealous. I would simply tell her that you love her and you respect what she does even if it's not right for her and she should respect you the same. If she can't listen to you about your friend, she really is not your friend and you amy want to let her alone for awhile. Either she will see that what she does bothers you or she will go on about her business. But I would really tell her that she is wrong for treating you as she does.

in the beginning: you will harm certainly one of them. no longer something you assert or do will exchange that. settle for it. Rejection is a classic area of being human and relationship. there is not any longer something you're able to do to soften the "i'm basically no longer into you" blow. 2nd off: this would sound nuts yet have confidence me, turn a coin. Make guy a million heads and guy 2 tails. If it lands on heads and your instantaneous gut reaction is "ok, candy" then choose for guy a million. If it lands on heads and your instantaneous gut reaction is "No, no him" then choose for guy 2. comparable element apples for guy 2 and tails. do no longer over think of your reaction, basically flow with it. Your subconscious is a techniques greater effective approximately examining the physique language and "goodness feeling" of a individual then your wakeful strategies ever is (eons of evolution and all that, heavily how do you think of we survived till this ingredient without this instinctual understanding?). ultimately: Do it immediately. The longer you wait the better the possibility you will loose the two.

Why does she think he's a player? Isn't that a redflag? Did he try to come on to her? Or did she see something he did that she don't want to tell you? If she has legitimate support for what she says you should listen to her. After all she is your friend. And friends SEE clearly at times when we are blinded by good looks ;) Does she like him?

follow your heart
do other people have problems with this guy? If so, that's a warning sign but if you're still interested, don't start dating yet just keep chilling with him and try to get a better sense of the type of person he is.

stop asking them what or who, it's up to you, follow your heart. Your friend probably is telling you the truth, but she's in need of your friendship too. She doesnt want anyone to take you away and then she wont have you around as much.

Find out if he recently broke up with someone. You might be just a girl to talk with until he finds someone new.
