A misinterpretation of scripture. Many of the scriptures they use in regarding 1260 days, or 42 months, or a time + times+ dividing of time are not referring to a 3.5 year period. There are other scriptures that use prophetic time and refer to each day as a year, so this tribulation period lasts 1260 years. This is referring to the dark ages and Catholic rule of the Christian world. It is more of a time frame of the great apostasy than a tribulation period. The world has been under the tribulation since the time of Adam. Don't believe me? Ask those in Germany and Japan during WWII, or the starving Africans.
