They alway show a weak skinny nerd being the virgin and never show a guy who is both mentally and physically strong with good moral values as the virgin. Where did this lie come from? And why does a lot of todays youth buy into it?

Hollywood has a message to preach also, it just lives on the opposite end of morality then we do.

My 17 year old son and my daughters fiancee are two of the finest young men I know and not because he is my son and the other is marrying my daughter; facts are facts regardless of the relationship.
My son simply has a memory from his youth about how I use to live as an alcoholic and has made a choice not to become a generational protege of my old nature. PRAISE GOD!
The point: He is strong, handsome, muscular, and very talented in mixed martial arts. He also plays the bass guitar in praise and worship, leads praise and worship in a religious school program and has made it very clear he is a child of the living God and sold out to remain a virgin as the Bible teaches until marriage and is respected for this among his peers at school.
Just last month he and I along with my daughters fiancee finished our session of sparing with two broken noses. Does this sound like the stereo-typical Hollywood virgin? Not a chance. These boys are anything but the skinny geeks Hollywood preaches about in their effort to indoctrinate us and our children.
Thanks for such a wonderful question.

Because this world glorifies immorality. Doing the right and moral thing is never made to look good in the media. This lie comes from the devil who is a LIAR! He wants to destroy all that God created to be good, strong, noble and pure! He is the one behind all the vile and filthy things that are shoved down our throats on TV! Then society expects us to accept it as the "norm"! Those that do not accept it as the norm are looked upon as weird or fanatics! But believe me, kids pay a price for doing what they see on TV! Think of the children born out of wedlock who will not have two mature parents to raise them. Think of the STD's and the lives that are shattered by having to give a baby up for adoption! Think of the abortions! Bravo! You are a person who has learned to question all the media presents to us! May the Lord bless you!

Because a mentally and physically strong virgin isn't funny. Television shows promote these sterotypes because they know that its an easy way to make people laugh. That's why all blonde characters on TV shows are always shallow and unintelligent and gay characters on TV shows are always flaming

Your most likely seeing a tradition of "backlash" to the notion that sexuality and virginity are virtuous and moral.

Societal values change over time and what you suggest as being "virtuous" has been a relatively recent belief propagated by some segments.

If you do some reading on sexuality in history and cultures you might be exposed to some things that you aren't aware.

So called "pink-blooded american" (and strategies you, those adult males on the shows are ninety 9.9% of the time caucasian) pick to have faith that their one hundred sixty lb, potatoes-beef-and-corn fed intense college sophomore should have no concern getting laid. concern is those days, a lot of them won't be able to even spell, much less get laid. The aggression is manifested upon the different youthful adult males who look bodily weaker yet will probable finally end up doing greater effective in existence (invoice gates, who fits the classic nerd look, would desire to purchase michael jordan... somewhat some cases) Media created it.. keep in mind Revenge of the nerds... Steve Urkel... Velma from Scooby Doo (fairly a nerdy guy with boobs)... Poindexter from Felix the Cat (this is with regard to the oldest comic strip nerd i can think of of!)

like lindsey p said, it wouldn't be funny. in real life, virginity is or should be seen as a strong value, religious or not.

like you said, it's a television show- it's not a lie, it's comedy. and as a youth, i laugh at/with it. not buy into it

The lie comes straight from the pits of hell, satan creates those lies so that a man would get discouraged and turn the other way . It is harder to swim up stream than to go with the flow, but be encouraged we are all in the battle and we are going to win and if you hold on to God the rewards will be great.

Why do people that glorify the use of force for spreading religion think that being a skinny nerd is "bad?"

My Q&A is not private at all, silly boy. I suggest you put your testicles to better use. I used mine for procreating - it's a LOT of fun...
