Letter to prominent Christains.
The gist of the letter seems to be __Be nice to us or there will be trouble.
Are they getting desparate because they cannot defend themselves intellectually?

I'm not sure about the letter you are speaking of. But here are my immediate thoughts, and these thoughts are by a Christian, and meant for other Christians:

Whether you agree with Islam or not, you have no calling in Christianity to be anything less than nice to others. Pray for your enemies, and be ready with a gentle answer when somebody asks about your faith. These instructions are very different than the arrogant vituperative bloviating that so many chicken-fried televangelists spew.

You are not supposed to assert Christianity by arguing its merits over those of other religions, and you are commanded not to return evil for evil. You are supposed to evangelize your faith with an intensity of love and mercy that emulates our Lord Jesus Christ. You are supposed to draw people into your faith through your good example, not by intimidation.

If you have hated any person today, you have committed sin. You are expected to hate and oppose evil, but be sure to start with your own, or you will not have the spiritual means necessary to do anything about anybody else's.

So, I agree with the scholars. They are only promising to return evil for evil. Not very advanced, perhaps, but then, it is Jesus who told us to return good for evil, not Mohammed. Who is your Lord?

What? the gist of the letter was, muslims and christians should work together to make the world peaceful.... The real concern is that Christan leadership was so look warm in coming up with a response, that was equally as peaceful.

Franz Karl I bet u get the thumbs down from a lot of other people, not just Muslims and that's for the simple fact that you're a bigot.
And the letter mentioned above does not suggest "be nice or else..."

At least read it first... :-/ ... easy enough?

None of the religions can be defended intellectually.

If you knew that Muhammad was a sex pervert who married a girl at 6 and started having sex with her at 9. Made his stepson divorce his wife so he could screw her along with the 10 others wow... they have to be desperate because truth would bury them. They have a false book the Koran with made up history. Their religion is about a moon god with deals with the city of Medina to keep people coming there on pilgrimages. Of course they are desperate.
Don't say anything against Muhammad or we will cut off your head... yeh.. real desparate.
I usually get the down thumbs because they don't like the truth.
They can't even leave without their family killing them.. according to the law of the Koran... now tell me why we don't hear this on the TV?
Look at the quotes from their own HOLY books.
I am not kidding. Why not debate the truth? They are running scared because they know I am telling the truth.

"the gist seems to be "........ probably you are too intellectual to misunderstand the letter.
