People who claim God doesn't want us to drink are just using that for an excuse.
I know some people who don't drink for non-religious reasons, lots of times they have had an alcoholic relative and don't want to risk becoming anything like them.
Personally, I agree with the Metallica dude above. Be intelligent about it, but sometimes you can throw caution to the wind and let loose.

Moderation is Key, a drink or two everynow and then never hurt a soul, and a special occasion (such as yours or a friends birthday) it is ok to let loose. An alcoholic is a sad thing, but not as much as a self rightchous "Straight Edge" asshole. If you drink and think you might have a problem get help, it not then enjoy in moderation, and if you don't drink and hate drinkers for no reason....then blow.

My brother doesn't drink. But he's not a religous freak and he isn't against it. Personally he just does like the feeling of loosing control of himself. He still likes to have fun though and go to parties where others (including his wife) are drinking.

people do stupid things under the influence of alcohol such as killing or hurting others, accidents on the road while driving, etc. besides, i hate the taste and it makes my chest feel heavy.

Its not good for you is really the big thing. I don't care what the doctors say. Maybe a glass of wine occasionally. Also people get drunk and do stupid things. Like drive. Good quote though.
