Large scale evolution is only a hypothesis and a poor one at that. Evidence against it and for a created existence makes much better sense. Swiss scientist Charles Guye calculated the possibility of one protein (not the 239 needed to produce a living cell) being spontaneously produced, at 1 in 10 to the 134th power. That is if you happened (by a miracle shall I suggest) to have all the necessary amino-acids present to begin with. That number represents all the fundamental partials in the universe. The odds of one cell just popping up out of nowhere are 1 in 10 to the137,915.28th power. That is why biologist Edwin Conklin said, “The probability of life originating from accident is comparable to the probability of the unabridged dictionary resulting from an explosion in a printing shop.”

Look at any system in nature and the complexity is so overwhelming that the honest observer will come to the only reasonable conclusion: something created this world. I have read and listened to people like Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens and the only evidence they display is their hate, venom and disdain for Christians and God. There arguments are circular foolishness with no basis because there is no basis.

1) Evolution and atheism go hand in hand.

2) The lost who believe that life could spring from dead matter with no information to guide it need to sit down and think. The evolutionist might come upon two crashed and burning cars in an intersection and conclude that they spontaneously appeared and then crashed themselves into each other. The creationist would understand that intelligence designed the two cars and the road they are sitting on.

Charles Guye did make his calculation on the probability of a protein spontaneously "evolving". It was recorded by Pierre Lecomte du Noy in Human Destiny (1947).

The larger point is that to think that life can spring from non-life, or from dead mater is rediculous.

The Darwinian vs. God Contest

One day a group of Darwinian scientists got together and decided that man had come a long way and no longer needed God. So they picked one Darwinian to go and tell Him that they were done with Him.

The Darwinian walked up to God and said, "God, we've decided that we no longer need you. We're to the point that we can clone people and do many miraculous things, so why don't you just go on and get lost."

God listened very patiently and kindly to the man. After the Darwinian was done talking, God said, "Very well, how about this? Let's say we have a man-making contest." To which the Darwinian happily agreed.

God added, "Now, we're going to do this just like I did back in the old days with Adam."

The Darwinian said, "Sure, no problem," and bent down and grabbed himself a handful of dirt.

God looked at him and said, "No, no, no. You go get your own dirt!"

Hehe...I thought this was funny :)

I think they might be scared to believe, because then eveything becomes much more complex, so many answers that you'll never find or can't truly comprehend. Why are we here? Why does God let bad things happen to good people? Why is my life crappy, does God not love me?? thos are just a few, maybe its easier to think that it was all by chance, and you have no one to answer to, because then the bad that happens, just happens. You know Charles Darwin was Christian until one of his daughters died, he lost faith because he could not understand why God would let his precious daughter die, what did she do to deserve that? We cant figure it all out, and we shouldnt try, we should just love, comfort and care. Its all about FAITH!

Toss a coin a 100,000 times. The probability of getting the exact sequence of heads and tails you got is 1/(2^100,000) or about 1 in 10^30,000. By your reasoning it is impossible to get that particular sequence because the probability is low. Nice logic!

If god created the world, what/who created god?

Edit:
Evolution is a theory - as in the Theory of Evolution". There is no "Theory of Intelligent Design" or "Theory of Creationism", because ID/Creationism does not have ANY verifiable evidence to support it. The definition of a theory in a scientific context is provided on the attached link.

Edwin Conklin passed away in 1952. Do you have any more recent sources?

You're not even talking about evolution. I would very much like to see your logical evidence against evolution and for intelligent design.

I fail to see how the idea that an all knowing and all powerful being creating the universe makes better sense than the Big Bang, Abiogenesis, and Evolution.

Charles-Eugene Guye, the Swiss mathematician, never made any such calculation. Creationists have made claims of a variety of increasing values (as their original numbers were shown to essentially guarantee life arising), which they have falsely attributed to him. You avoided any circular arguments by going straight to a lie. Thank you for demonstrating that there are no honest arguments in favor of Biblical Creationism.

Guye died in 1942. Protein sequencing and crystallography were not achieved until 1955 and 1958 respectively.

Good thing then, that no-one involved in evolutionary science is proposing such a scenario, don't you agree?

Evolution is not a hypothesis, it is a fact. If it was only a hypothesis, why do 99% of scientists accept it?
That's abiogenesis that you're talking about, not evolution. Evolution has nothing to do with origins.
Your arguments are ridiculous and have been disproved before, just do some research. Try http://www.talkorigins.org/, for a start.

You say "large scale evolution is only a hypothesis and a poor one at that."

Does that mean you admit there is such a thing as small-scale evolution? If so, take the small-scale evolution and put it on a very long timeline.

If you deny small scale evolution, tell me how viruses and bacteria become drug-resistant.

It's more believable that God created man from dirt, a woman from his rib and the two of them alone were able to propagate the entire human race.

That and a talking snake. OK.

Here's what I don't like about religious people... they take a concept, develop a conclusion, then go searching for information that supports that conclusion. Science doesn't provide the conclusion they seek, so it must be wrong and THEN they go about finding proof of it being wrong.

Evolution must be wrong because there are holes and missing pieces. Know what? THAT'S OKAY! When it comes to science, we will NEVER know everything.

How "comforting" it must be in religion to know EVERYTHING and never have to search for new information. (Note the sarcasm.)

Honestly, where do you people get off? I would never try to debate string theory since I know jack **** about it, so why do you think that you can "debate" evolution? Or chemistry? Or biochemistry? Or statistics?
