Well i got a bad grade in a couple of my classes which seriously effected my entire grade because of my presentation. Now, it wasn't the work that neccessarily destoryed it... but my stutter. I don't know why it still continues. The people i see in all my classes everyday i have known for 3 years. Whenever i get up infront of people or simply read aloud infront of people i stutter, or i sound like i choke. I'm a sophmore, and i'm very afraid of failing speech and other classes that require me getting up and speaking infront of my peers. I can't randomly switch into a drama class that will help improve my speech, i already have a set schedule and i need the classes i'm taking. Staying after school isn't really an option either, the only time i stay after is to finish up or make up work.

Isn't there another way to fight the stutter and how do i come up with a good enough excuse to us against my bad grade and prevent grounding?

Aren't your parents aware that you stutter, or is it just a thing that happens at school? Either way, ask your parents to see to it that the school or your family doctor get you a speech therapist. It must be awful for you to try to speak before a room full of fellow students.

One trick to calm your nerves is to aim your words toward a gap between faces. No one will notice that you're not really looking directly at anyone. Also, practise reading aloud in your room at home. Do this as often as you can, imagining there are people in front of you.

As soon as possible, ask to speak either to a school counsellor, if one is available, or directly to the teacher. Explain your problem and ask for help. Most professionals, though busy, are kind and will listen and try to help you.

It might be difficult at first, but you can get through this. I wish you the best.

Fear is a state of mind and for you it gives out as a stutter. Me I sound like my voice is about to crack. I solved this to a degree by ignoring everybody in the room. I picked a point usually someone I knew really well and just talked to them. After a time I was able to use other things like looking above the heads of those present. I still sounded nervous for the first few seconds but I would then pause, breath and start again. Good Luck.

I have a friend just like you well kind of, she loves to talk to people but she stutters when she talks in front of the class. you just have to pretend you're alone and reading or talking to yourself. It sounds weird but it helps me I just take a deep breath and relax, then go for it, whatever happens well it happens. As for the grades your parents should cut you some slack nobodies perfect or super smart. Just tell them you're doing the best you can.

so sad.. honestly, i've been in that situation during my highschool days, but you see, just believe in yourself and you'll be able to cope with it. sometimes, i've done worst than yours, here's what happend... the day before my graded recitation ( you gonna go infront of the class and discuss your topic), i've been reviewing the whole day, practiced my speech with my sister and even talked infornt the mirror... and when its time rather my turn to discuss my topic, .. where on earth my voice wander... it really sucks.... i even can't speak... it's like i cant breathe... and the worst thing was i was really in a MENTAL BLOCK situation.... anyway, as time goes on and on and on... i finally coped it. i tried to talk as much as possible in my household, i dont care if they tried listening my stories, and if i'm alone, i read a lot of books and i dont read it by my eyes only, i read it so loud standing infront of the mirror, and everyday before i off to bed i would stand infront of the mirror and tell myself, " you are so good, everybody listen to you when you're talking, you are so great." just do it everyday...... and ask help from your siblings and explain your dad that you're having or dealing with that problem. Maybe if you just tell them what's happening to you.. they might as well help you instead of scolding you. And always get involve of some class debates or discussion, always ask questions, treat your classmates and teacher as your relatives that you can easily deal with them. and most of all, always pray before doing anything else and especially when you're going to school pray first and ask assistance and help and guidance from GOD. Good luck!:)

You need to ask for speech therapy at school. Any public school has to provide it. Ask your parents to help you, talk to your school counselor.
